Jaco III - End of the Road

So we left Playa del Coco, and headed through Liberia and Puntarenas in order to get back to Jaco. It was a pretty long day but luckily we made all the right buses with only half hour waits inbetween! While we were in Puntarenas, this cruise ship was docked at the pier. Pretty cool.
We arrived in Jaco just before sunset, found places to stay and settled in. The second day that we were there, Kyle and I headed to Playa Hermosa to get some surfing in (see next post). When we got back, we found find out there was a local election...and therefore no alcohol sales for 3 days...not even at the grocery store! Everyone's shelves were bare, and these stickers were on the the alcohol establishments. The bars were closed, and the local pub had water placed on the shelf that used to hold the hard liquor. This was quite the experience for the guys! No beer!!!
Kyle and I stayed at Chuck's Cabinas again, in order to sell his remaining two boards. He sold his new one back in San Juan to Dimitri, and now we had two left to get rid of.
At Chucks's, we stayed first in a dorm room...

...then we moved to a private room. We were going to go and stay at a hotel down the street that had a pool, etc for our last couple nights, but we decided we'd go for a fancy supper instead.
Here's more of the Jaco streetscape. One afternoon, Lara and I did a little shopping, and the guys just tagged along.

Late in the afternoon, the four of us hit the beach. It was way to hot to be shopping!
We all went out for supper at Wahoo's restaurant.

On Lara and Gareth's last night in Jaco, we had dinner at Isaga's, a local pub next to Chuck's Cabinas.

The alcohol ban finally lifted. Kyle went back to drinking his Imperials... ...and I switched from Cokes to Iced Tea.
Here is a picture of Kyle sleeping with his board.

And here is a cute little photo sequence we put together.

Oh right, this is a surf trip...so where's the surf? The waves in Jaco this time weren't anything great. There hasn't been any really good swell for awhile now. Not since we were at the Laguna really. Here is Kyle's last time surfing for this trip. He sold his boards later in the day.
But all in all, it was a good surf trip!
And the last time we hit the beach. This was all quite hard to leave behind!

During our last full day in Costa Rica, we went out for a fancy dinner. We went to a steak house! Mmmm! We each had a steak meal, a glass of wine, two Sprites, a cup of coffee and two desserts...and the total was...under $50 dollars! Wow.
Yep, this is the end of our trip, but look how dark we are!
