Picturesque Manuel Antonio

From Jaco, we headed south along the Pacific Coast to Manuel Antonio. This was the most amazing and picturesque beach we went to. When we got into town and settled in, it was right before sunset, so we got some amazing shots from the beach.

These are two pictures of Manuel Antonio looking out to sea, and looking back onto the beach. The beach here was lined with market booths full of souveniors, jewellry, sarongs, etc; that is when it wasn't rainy; as soon as the midday rain started, the people packed up their booths and went home.

During our walks along the beach, we saw some more different creatures...

Here was an estuary that you crossed in order to get to the entrance to the National Park. Near the park entrance there was a sign in Spanish that read: "Beware, Crocs Live Here". After asking Kyle what it had said, I started along the beach andestuary, and pointed out "Like that one?!" There was a large croc parked on the beach, however I only got the shot of Kyle taking a pic of it. But it was on the sand by that yellow boat.

Next one isn't a creature, but it's a piece of coral that I found.

This is a cephalopod...I thought it was a fossil, but Kyle says it's alive and it's suctioned to the rock.
Here's some more views of Manuel Antonio...

I guess we're a little injury prone on this trip...on our way to catch the bus in Jaco, Kyle stubbed his toe on uneven sidewalk...And well, here's my surfer bruise, a week after it happened...

And here are some of the pretty flowers found in Costa Rica.

This is the hostel we stayed at. It had air conditioning and a hot water shower...known by "gringos" (aka. foreigners, but more well known as Americans) as "Suicide Showers" because of the way they are hooked up electrically to produce heat...check out all the wires leading up to the shower head!

This is an artistic picture taken by Kyle of our "stoop".
And here's the suicide showers...you did get a little zing if you put your hand too close to the showerhead with the water running.
Since this is a surf trip and all, here's some more pics of Kyle's surf mission...
