Tama-"gringo" & Playa Grande

Here we are at the lengendary surf break of Tamaringo, everyone knows this place, hence why we called it Tama-"gringo". Even the Lonely Planet book calls this place "gringo-ville"! This place was gringo-central and it turned out not to be that legendary. The waves, at the time we were here, were FLAT!. Good beginners waves, and maybe okay for longboarders but that's about it. And the boys, Kyle, Derek and Andy aren't beginners.
So we headed off to Playa Grande, north of Tamarindo. The waves were much better here...the boys even waited abit before heading out because the waves were SO big. But they went out and had a good session.

After surfing for most of the afternoon at Playa Grande, we headed back to Tamarindo to check it out for a second try.
Andy was able to head out on his longboard for awhile, but Kyle and Derek just check out the surf.

Yep, that's Kyle in my sarong...we didn't want to get the guys' vehicle soaking wet with his board shorts.
In Tamarindo, we stayed with the guys again. We stayed in a hotel where we had a large room and hot shower. The surfboards even had their own bed! There was a pool and courtyard too.

Here is the town of Tamarindo. It is the most commercialized beach town that we've been to. It was full of tourists, not just young surfers, but retired couples as well. The town itself was very touristy, with alot of expensive boutiques, and lots of large resorts and hotels.
